The summer term always brings about changes for university types. Current part-time students are often looking to take more courses during the summer, while full-time students often take fewer courses. Members of the faculty use the summer to teach, conduct research, catch up on projects, or spend time with their families. Support staff members are closing out last year’s reports, records, and accounts, and starting up the new fiscal year. Administrators are often starting or ending assignments, projects, and programs during the summer. Prospects and new students are making inquiries and applications, learning of admission decisions, and registering for their first courses. All of the above applies to the LDT program faculty, staff, students, and administrators.
Dr. Carr-Chellman
One of the most profound changes relates to our faculty. We recently bid farewell to Dr. Alison Carr-Chellman as she ended her term as department head and began her transition into her new role as the Dean of the College of Education at the University of Idaho. Dr. Carr-Chellman was involved with formation and development of the LDT online programs, including the initiation, development, and teaching of four online courses over the past 10 years. The LDT program is proud to have been a part of Dr. Carr-Chellman’s accomplishments, and we wish her continued success as she continues her career in higher education.
The departure of Dr. Carr-Chellman from Penn State will have some minor effects on students in the LDT online programs. There will be some shifting and changing in instructor assignments and course offerings in the coming year as the LDT faculty evaluates and adjusts resources and curriculum. Dr. Carr-Chellman’s M.Ed. advisees have already been reassigned to other advisors. And some future proposals for the program are being reevaluated in light of the loss of Dr. Carr-Chellman’s expertise. Continue to check this blog for updates.
Registration for Fall
