The registration for Spring 2017 courses offered by the LDT program for our degree and certificate students started off with a feverish burst but has now slowed to a trickle. With only two-thirds of our current students registered for their Spring 2017 courses, there are a substantial number of students who have yet to complete their Spring 2017 registration. In the coming weeks the LDT program faculty will consider eliminating course offerings due to low enrollment, so we encourage you to register as soon as possible.
Two Full, Others Open
Two courses are full: LDT 415A and LDT 527. Both 415A and 527 will be offered again in Fall 2017. One course is very close to filling to capacity: LDT 550. All other courses offered in Spring 2017 have openings.
New(er) Students
Students who recently joined a degree or certificate program offered by the LDT faculty are reminded that there is no specified order for completing any of the courses in any of our programs. If you’re a new student and you’re looking for a Spring 2017 course (or two), consider registering for LDT 467, LDT 566, or LDT 505.
M.Ed. Students —> Understanding 561
We recently announced the launch of the completely revised EDTEC 561 course, but questions have been asked about the course’s aim and purpose. Here are some clarifying details. As can be read on our LDT Course Descriptions page, the course was designed with our M.Ed. students in mind. Although our Master of Education (M.Ed.) degree program does not require students to conduct original experimental or observational research, the career paths of our graduates still demand the capacity for assessing the effectiveness of technology on the learning outcomes of a given audience. Decisions like these are not guessing games nor are they well-served by hunches and suppositions. The 561 course is designed to expand students’ awareness and understanding of the methods employed to answer the “Is this technology worth it?” question with confidence and validity. Note the final sentence of our description for the 561 course: Final projects could include designing and developing an implementation project to examine the effectiveness of technology enhanced learning experiences in your classroom or school, or a naturalistic observation of the ways learners utilize technologies in their daily lives.
