During the fall and spring terms, students can know the date when the regular drop period ends by looking at the University’s academic calendar. The LDT Online Program’s fall and spring courses generally adhere to the university’s standard schedule for full-term courses.
In the summer, the LDT program offers a number of compressed courses that do run the full length of the summer term. Confirming the date that marks the end of the regular drop period for that specific course requires some quick research in LionPATH by the student.
The University Registrar’s office has produced a visual tutorial to show students how to look up the details of their specific schedule for a specific course. The written tutorial is available here. Note that this information is available in the “Student View” of LionPATH. A video tutorial, below, extends this process so that a student will be able to determine the tuition adjustment fee they will be assessed if they drop a course. You must drop a course within the course’s regular drop deadline to avoid a fee.
The date that identifies the end of the regular drop period is called “Drop – Retain Record”. If you drop a course by that date, you should avoid a tuition adjustment penalty being assessed by the University Bursar. This is not financial advice—every student must look up and know their course’s specific drop date.
Overall, it is the best practice to drop a course as soon as possible at the very beginning of the course.
Here is an example of how the regular drop dates fall within the term:
Course | Start Date | End Date | Duration (Weeks) | Regular Drop Date |
---|---|---|---|---|
LDT 467 | 5/9/2018 | 8/8/2018 | 13 | 5/15/2018 |
LDT 433 | 5/9/2018 | 7/18/2018 | 10 | 5/14/2018 |
LDT 440 | 5/9/2018 | 7/3/2018 | 8 | 5/13/2018 |
LDT 832 | 6/11/2018 | 8/8/2018 | 8 | 6/15/2018 |
