What class should I take?
Master’s Students
Current M.Ed. in LDT students will be glad to see that LDT 401 – Gaming 2 Learn is offered during a Fall term for the first time ever! LDT 401 will only be offered in Fall 2019 of the 2019-2020 academic year.
Current M.Ed. students should register for LDT 581 – Theories of Learning, Design, and Technology. During the 2019-2020 academic year, LDT 581 will only be offered in Fall 2019. This course can be taken by anyone in the master’s degree program (you are able to register—no prerequisites are enforced).
New Students
Students who are newly-accepted/admitted to an LDT degree or certificate program can be relieved that the courses in our programs may be taken in any order. You may register for any course that is listed in your program of study. We have a handy chart of the courses that count for each of our offerings on our LDT Course Descriptions page.
Some courses may be full by the time that new students register. By Penn State Registrar policy, current students always have earlier access to courses. This is only an issue in the first term, because after registering one time, you will be a current student.
Reiterating that all students can take courses in any order, and can take any course that is listed in your program of study, new students should register for a course that is a part of your degree or certificate. Once the spaces are full in LDT 415A and LDT 527, you can then slide into LDT 566 or LDT 550. Students who are enrolled in the Postbaccalaureate Certificate in e-Learning Design can also register for ADTED 531.
New students with questions about course selection can contact Dr. Kirby and he will reply as soon as possible. (Note Dr. Kirby’s annual summer leave is July 15 to August 5.)
