Greetings to all LDT students! Now that we have progressed through a few weeks of the Spring term, we can begin to think about the next term ahead of us. Registration for Summer 2020 courses with the LDT Program is open now to all students across all categories. Registration for Fall 2020 courses will begin in late March. Here’s the timetable for registration dates:
New Field Experience Opportunity for M.Ed. Students

Dr. Kirby is away 7/25 – 8/9/2020
Dr. Kirby will take his annual summer leave from July 25 to August 9, 2020. All advising consultations should be requested by Friday, July 17, 2020, in order to ensure accommodation prior to Dr. Kirby’s leave.
SARI Training for M.Ed. Students
Students enrolled in the M.Ed. in LDT program are required to complete the Scholarship and Research Integrity (SARI) training requirement prior to graduation. The LDT Online M.Ed. in LDT program has received permission to offer our own version of the SARI training that is customized to the typical work and professional settings of our field. The training is fully online and fully asynchronous and requires a few hours per week for three weeks. There is no cost to sign-up for and complete the SARI training requirement for our program—it is a non-credit requirement.
If you are a World Campus M.Ed. in LDT student, and have not yet completed the SARI training, then we ask you to register for and complete the next offering of this training. The next offerings for the training will be: [Read more…]
New Course: Learning Technologies for Good and Evil
Learning Technologies for Good and Evil
NEW Course for M.Ed. in LDT Students in Spring 2020
Class 29993, 3 credits
Many courses about learning technology focus on how it can be harnessed for good. This online course starts from the assumption that good outcomes are never guaranteed—that the use of technology for learning, or any other purpose, always entails a struggle between good and evil.
The LDT Online Programs faculty is pilot testing a new online course titled LDT 897 – Learning Technologies for Good and Evil. The course is appropriate for our advanced M.Ed. in LDT students, especially those who have completed more more than 5 courses in our online program.
Gratitude to our Community
The faculty and staff of the Learning, Design, and Technology Program are grateful for the thoughtful coursework, creative problem-solving, and time that our students invest in their studies. Your effort excites us, your achievement motivates us, and your goals chart our course. Thank you for engaging in our community.
We wish you happy holidays, and a joyful new year.
Spring 2020 Registration Update
Hello all LDT students! As of 10 December 2019 our program’s Spring 2020 courses are 2/3 full overall. One course is full, one will fill soon, and the others will likely fill as the students who were just accepted or admitted to the program begin to register for their courses.
Please do not hesitate any longer! If you have not yet registered for your Spring 2020 courses, please go to your LionPATH account, complete the Pre-Registration Activity Guide (if you’ve not done so for this term), and then select and register for the courses.
Here are our Spring 2020 courses:
Self-Help with Search
The majority of LDT Online students are employed, engaged with other commitments, and also study with us part-time. Much of our students’ work happens outside of normal work hours. Although help from a program faculty or staff member might not be readily available at 11:35 PM, your program questions may still get answered. Use the search box on the blog for student to see what happens. Try a few keywords like “advisement” or “graduation” or SARI or capstone and see what hits in the search results. Also visit the pages that are linked across the top menu of our blog, such as LDT Courses or New Student Info or Documents.
Dr. Kirby aims to write and post answers to the most pressing questions facing every student. See what you can find!
Please Subscribe for Email Notifications
Our LDT Online blog for students is able to send a notification by email each time we make a new post. It is extremely handy, and will enable you to have the most rapid access to program-related information. Receive the blog update notifications before we prepare and send the email newsletter.
To sign up for email notifications of blog updates, visit the ldtonline.psu.edu blog site and look for the BLOG UPDATES BY EMAIL! signup box in the right-hand column.
