Greetings all! We’re rolling into the Summer 2019 term. The spring-t0-summer transition is always a hot one for us—we attend graduation on Sunday, and open the summer courses on Monday.
Registration for Summer 2019 courses is drawing to a close. Some sections are full, some have wait lists, and some are ready for enrollment. Contact your assigned academic advisor or Dr. Kirby with questions about course selection.

Students enrolled in the current versions of two LDT courses no longer need to purchase a printed textbook thanks to a partnership among the LDT Program, World Campus, and the University Libraries. The textbooks for LDT 440- Educational Technology Integration, and LDT 832 – Course Design for Learning Management Systems are now available digitally via the University Libraries.

LDT Students are eligible to register for courses according to admission status and the number of credits completed at the time of registration. The advantage afforded to current students, and students with higher numbers of credits completed, is that they are able to register for courses earlier during the registration period. The privilege of early registration enables students who are more advanced in their progress toward the M.Ed. in LDT degree to have priority in taking courses they need to advance toward graduation.
LDT students are eligible to register for Summer 2019 and Fall 2019 courses according to the timetable below.

Summer 2019 courses opened for general registration by all categories of student on 4 February 2019. Anyone, and everyone, is currently eligible to register for courses offered during the Summer 2019 term, which includes all master’s degree, certificate, and nondegree students from any campus and any program. All course registration takes place on LionPATH. Please register for Summer 2019 courses as soon as possible.

Fall 2019 course registration opens to LDT students according to their program (degree or certificate) and the number of credits earned. The timetable for Fall 2019 course registrations is displayed in the following table:

The LDT Program will offer seven courses during the Fall 2019 term. Following the table showing the scheduled courses we will offer registration advice for the various categories of our students.
The University’s commencement weekend is May 3-5, 2019. This is a hallmark event in the lives of our master’s degree students—one that is worth experiencing. If an LDT student is unsure whether participating in the graduation ceremony is worthwhile, know that we encourage our students to attend graduation ceremonies at the University Park campus if it is possible. For some students, the experience might be the first and only time that they step foot onto campus.
The graduate school’s commencement ceremonies are Sunday, May 5, at 6:30 PM in the Bryce Jordan Center. World Campus graduates are also invited to a Friday evening (May 3) reception especially for them (prior registration is required).

This summer we will offer a great course that few of our students have heard about. The course is LDT 433 – Teaching and Learning Online in K-12 settings.
The course is designed for anyone with interests in K-12 education to explore foundational methods, issues, and trends in online education. The course includes online “microteaching” experiences where the student develops and delivers a few online lessons, receiving feedback from classmates and the instructor. The class is number 3051 in LionPATH, and will run from May 6 to July 16.

We’ve surpassed the halfway mark of our course registration for Spring 2019. As usual, we anticipate our Spring courses to be full before Penn State’s winter recess (before 21 December 2018). Whether you’re brand new or a returning student, you are eligible to register now on LionPATH, and we encourage you to complete your course registration for Spring 2019 as soon as possible. Remember, bursar bills do not become due until the end of December 2018, so you can register now and pay later. LDT Online courses open on 7 January 2019.
Without a single fallen snowflake as the sun begins to dip low in 2018, it is now time to think about the courses you will take in Spring 2019. Hello to our students and colleagues! We’re looking forward to the fall term. We hope that you’re ready, too! This post will summarize our program’s current course registration status, and advise students on which Fall 2018 course(s) to register for if they’ve not yet registered.
We have been registering our students for Fall 2018 courses since March 23. With that, there are some seats remaining across our courses, but it is important that you act quickly. We just admitted a healthy incoming cohort of students who will take their first course with us in the fall, and they are registering for their choice of courses as you read this. If you need to register for a Fall 2018 course, time is of the essence!
